In accordance with our Equal Opportunity Policy, QUT is committed to improving accessibility of our web sites and online resources for all users.
QUT's policy on accessibility can be found in the QUT Web Manual (QUT users only). The policy states that QUT sites must achieve level AA accessibility.
Access keys
In most modern web browsers, access keys provide keyboard shortcuts to commonly used navigation options. Access keys may be of particular use to those users who have difficulty in using a mouse or other pointing device, and can be of benefit to all users as navigation shortcuts. QUT is currently in the process of adding access key support to its web sites.
For sites that currently have access key support, the keys used are:
- 1 navigates to the QUT home page
- 2 navigates to the site home page
- 3 navigates to the site contact details
- 4 optional - navigates to the Faculty/Division home page
- 5 optional - navigates to the site staff directory
- 6 optional - navigates to the site A-Z index or sitemap
- 7 places the cursor in the search box
- 8 reserved
- 9 reserved
- 0 navigates to accessibility and access key information
How to use access keys
Depending on your browser, the way you use access keys may vary.
For Internet Explorer
- Windows: Hold down the Alt key and the relevant number key, release, then press the Enter key
- Mac: Hold down the Ctrl key and press the relevant number key
For Firefox and Mozilla-based browsers
- Windows: Hold down the Alt key and press the relevant number key
- Mac: Hold down the Ctrl key and press the relevant number key
For Opera
- Windows/Mac: Hold down the Shift and Esc keys, release, then press the relevant number key
Please note: if your browser is not listed here, you should refer to your browser's documentation or help files to check if it supports the use of access keys.
Changing the text size
If the size of the text on this site is too small for you to read comfortably, you can use your browser to increase (or decrease) the size of the text.
For Firefox and Mozilla-based Browsers
From the menu bar, select View > Text Size, then select Increase or Decrease to change the text size.
You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts:
- Press the Ctrl and + keys together to increase the text size
- Press the Ctrl and - keys together to decrease the text size
- Press the Ctrl and 0 keys together to return the text size to normal
Help
If you cannot access content on a QUT web site, contact the webmaster or contact person for that site to request the information in an alternative format.
You should find an email link to the webmaster in the footer section of the web page you are trying to access. Or you may find contact details for the webmaster or other contact person on a contacts page of that site.
